Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP Expands Employment Law Litigation Practice with Addition of Veteran City Attorney Blithe Bock

Los Angeles – Before joining Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP, Employment Law and Litigation partner Blithe S. Bock had been a public sector attorney for 25 of her 32-year career. She joined the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office as a trial court litigator in 1999, and then transitioned to the Civil Appellate Division, where she practiced until 2024. Blithe is a Certified Appellate Specialist and an elected member of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers.

As a City Attorney, Blithe obtained many published opinions in areas of great importance to public entities, such as Employment (including Discrimination, Sexual Harassment and Retaliation); Civil Rights and Section 1983; Dangerous Condition of Public Property; Landlord/Tenant; and many others. She also penned amicus briefs in the California Supreme Court and United States Supreme Court in landmark cases such as Obergefell v. Hodges (which she authored on behalf of 226 mayors, 40 cities and 4 municipal organizations), Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, and Poole v. Orange County Fire Authority.

At Burke, Blithe focuses her practice in Employment Law and Litigation. She will also assist other Burke Litigation Practice Group attorneys across the firm in readying cases for appellate court review when needed.
