Stephanie Gutierrez is an attorney at the Riverside office of Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP and has a range of experience advising and representing public entities. Stephanie currently serves as Senior Assistant City Attorney for the City of Simi Valley, Assistant City Attorney for the cities of California City, Rosemead, and Temple City, as Assistant General Counsel for the Banning Library District and the Central Basin Municipal Water District, and as Deputy City Attorney for the cities of Buellton, Cathedral City, Lawndale, Rialto, Wildomar and Town of Yucca Valley.
Stephanie serves as counsel during city council and planning commission meetings, regularly advises on the Brown Act, the Political Reform Act, California conflict of interest law and the California Public Records Act. She attends Executive Team meetings, assisting in preparation of meeting agendas, and provides a wide array of trainings to local government officials ranging from zoning and land use regulations to AB 1234. Stephanie is also skilled in in public contracting and contract negotiation. Prior to joining Burke, Stephanie’s practice concentrated on immigration law. Stephanie also worked for the San Bernardino County Counsel’s office where she advised the Assessor Recorder Clerk, the Land Use Services Department, and the Chief Administrator’s Office.
Stephanie earned her Juris Doctor degree from University of La Verne College of Law. During law school, she served as a judicial extern for Associate Justice Carol D. Codrington of the Fourth District Court of Appeal, and was Editor in Chief of the Journal of Law Business and Ethics. She also received a Master of Public Administration degree from University of La Verne College of Business and Public Management.
