Justin Tamayo is an associate in Burke’s Los Angeles office and a member of the Public Law and Eminent Domain practice groups.
Justin’s practice consists of providing general counsel services, obtaining compliance with the municipal code, and assisting in public entity representation on complex eminent domain and inverse condemnation matters.
Justin currently serves as Deputy City Attorney for the cities of Monterey Park and Bellflower where he advises the Planning Commission, and counsels Department managers and directors on general municipal law issues. In addition to land use, planning and zoning matters, Justin is skilled in public contracting, contract negotiation, and the Brown Act. Justin currently serves as a member of the League of California Cities Brown Act Committee.
Before joining Burke, Justin served various communities in southern California as a city planner. He has extensive experience in land use entitlements, housing development, administration and management of general plans and municipal codes, compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act, and public hearings.
Justin earned his J.D. from the University of La Verne College of Law where he was the Vice-President of the Student Bar Association and a Certified Law-Clerk in the College of Law’s Misdemeanor Appellate Clinic. During law school, Justin obtained licensure from the California Department of Real Estate and clerked for a construction law firm where he gained valuable experience in litigation and real property law.
Justin graduated with a B.S. in Urban and Regional Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
