Burke Public Law Partner Elena Gerli to Present at 2025 CalCities City Attorneys Spring Meeting

Apr 21, 2025

Burke Public Law partner Elena Q. Gerli will co-present ‘Tricks and Traps in Reviewing Housing Projects: How to Protect Your City’ on Wednesday, May 7, between 1 pm and 3 pm, at the League of California Cities 2025 City Attorney Spring Meeting, taking place in Burlingame, CA.

Over 250 bills have been enacted since 2017 to “solve” California’s extraordinarily high housing prices. The majority of these have been aimed at local government processing of housing projects. This avalanche of bills, with their myriad details and strict timelines, has been nearly impossible for overworked planners to understand or to incorporate into their procedures. This two-hour, California State Bar accredited CLE will address the most frequent traps encountered by cities in reviewing housing developments and will suggest strategies to protect cities from both litigation and mistakes, especially in light of new housing laws effective in 2025.

Dolores B. Dalton, a partner with the Golfarb & Lipman, LLP will be co-panelist.
