Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP has an immediate need for an experienced paralegal for its San Diego office.

The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge of litigation.  They will be responsible for preparing basic legal documents such as answers, litigation hold letters, and initial written discovery.  Job duties also include drafting and managing business record subpoenas.  Related paralegal experience requires propounding discovery and other statutory requests; assist attorneys with document review and production; prepare and review case files; discovery and trial documents in all aspects of case management; Administrative functions include filing, sorting mail, ordering supplies, copying, scanning, updating materials, and interfacing with the rest of the firm as well as firm clients.

Minimum requirements include the following: a paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited school, strong document organizational and computer skills, proficiency working with Word to create documents, including forms and macros, knowledge of legal terminology, civil litigation court proceedings and deadlines for federal and state courts, rules for formatting, filing, electronic filing, and serving legal documents, grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills, excellent attendance, and attention to detail.  The ability to be a team player and get along well with others is a must.  Prior legal secretary experience is a plus.  The pay scale for this position ranges from $87K – $98K plus annual bonuses.  The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s quality and amount of experience.  Annual discretionary bonuses, competitive health insurance benefits, and 401(k) with a partial match are offered when individuals are eligible for benefits.
