Objective

The Recruiting Coordinator at Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP is an in-house position responsible for coordinating the talent acquisition efforts to attract and hire top legal and administrative professionals for the Firm.  This role requires a deep understanding of the legal industry, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop and implement effective recruiting strategies tailored to the competitive California legal market.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition:  Develop and execute comprehensive recruiting strategies to identify, attract, and participate in the hiring of top legal talent, including attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff.  Focus on roles critical to the Firm’s operations and growth in California.

Candidate Sourcing:  Proactively source candidates through various channels, including professional networks, legal associations, law schools, job fairs, and social media platforms; in particular, LinkedIn Talent.  Leverage connections in the California legal community to find passive candidates.

Recruitment Process Coordination:  Coordinate the entire recruitment process from job posting to offer acceptance.  This includes creating job descriptions, screening applications when appropriate, coordinating interviews, and preparing/submitting job offers under the guidance of the appropriate personnel and decision-makers.

Diversity and Inclusion:  Prioritize diversity and inclusion in the recruitment process, striving to build a diverse workforce that reflects the Firm’s values and the diverse client base it serves in California.

Stakeholder Engagement:  Work closely with the Recruiting Committee, hiring managers and firm leadership to understand hiring needs, provide regular updates on recruitment progress, and gather feedback on candidates.

Employer Branding:  Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance the Firm’s employer brand, ensuring it is attractive to potential candidates by highlighting the Firm’s culture, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.

Summer Clerk Program:  Assist in the development and implementation of the Firm’s Summer Clerk program.

Onboarding Support:  Assist in the development and implementation of an effective onboarding and integration process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the Firm.

Market Analysis:  Keep abreast of trends in the legal labor market in California, including salary benchmarks, industry best practices in recruitment, and changes in demand for legal professionals.

Other key responsibilities will include maintaining candidate profiles in our database, coordinating interview schedules, collecting and distributing candidate feedback, managing recruiting files and databases, generating and disseminating reports on recruiting efforts, and undertaking other administrative and strategic projects as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Additional certification in recruitment or human resources is a plus.
  • Proven experience in legal industry recruitment.
  • Strong understanding of the California legal market and the specific challenges and opportunities it presents for recruitment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with candidates and firm stakeholders.

  • Function effectively in a team setting and approach tasks with a positive attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient in the use of technology, Microsoft Office products, document formatting and management, recruiting software and platforms, social media, and professional networks for candidate sourcing.
  • Ability to manage multiple recruitment projects simultaneously, with a focus on detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the recruitment process.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position is office-based in Los Angeles, with the potential for travel within California for networking events, job fairs, and campus recruitment activities.  It involves significant interaction with candidates and firm personnel, both virtually and in person, and requires the ability to work flexibly in response to firm needs.

Compensation

Annualized salary commensurate with experience ranging from $85,000 – $115,000.
