Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP is seeking mid-level and partner level attorneys to join its San Diego office and work as part of an expanding team of Business/Commercial General Litigation attorneys.

The ideal candidates will have general litigation and defense experience practicing in California, and experience with CGL defense cases. Mid-level associate attorney candidates must be able to handle a case from start to finish with general supervision.  Partner level candidates must be able to provide hands-on handling and management of cases with the assistance of a team comprised of an associate attorney, paralegal, and legal secretary.  Looking for self-starters with a positive attitude who thrive in a collaborative environment.  Experience with catastrophic loss cases a plus.

The pay scale for associates at Burke ranges from $140,000 – $220,000 plus annual performance-based bonuses.  The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s years of practice and experience.  The range for partners is $221,000 to $335,000.

The firm offers a hybrid work arrangement option and an annual telecommute budget to support remote work.  The firm’s billable hour requirement is 1850 for associates and 1750 for partners.  Attorneys receive competitive health insurance benefits,  401(k) with a partial match, and are eligible for annual discretionary and billable hour bonuses.

Burke is committed to a culture of inclusion.  New associates are assigned to an “Associate Buddy” to assist with their transition to Burke.  Our robust DEI Committee runs a Mentor Circles program that helps attorneys navigate through the firm and provides connection and enrichment opportunities, an Education Program that hosts periodic trainings, and a Civic Engagement Program that connects Burke attorneys with civic groups in the communities where we practice law.

Burke’s pro bono program affords attorneys opportunities to contribute in ways which are most meaningful to them both personally and professionally by giving billable credit for up to 40 hours of pro bono work.

Burke also supports attorneys’ business development goals by providing each with a yearly budget for attendance at continuing legal education and conferences.

Burke values integrity, diversity, professional growth, and personal fulfillment for everyone working at our firm and we encourage all interested candidates to apply by emailing a cover letter, resume, references, and writing sample to recruiting@bwslaw.com.  EOE.
