Apr 04, 2025

Burke Public Law partner Davin A. Widgerow will be a featured presenter during a Strafford/Babri CLE-accredited program entitled  ‘Supreme Court’s 2024-2025 Term and Local Government: Key Cases, Anticipated Impacts.  The 2024-2025 U.S. Supreme Court term includes several cases that would significantly impact local governments. These Court decisions cover a range of critical Constitutional law controversies likely to impact many public agencies in the areas of employment law, environmental regulations, firearms control, and civil rights. Local governments, as major employers and regulatory bodies, must stay informed about these developments to effectively navigate the loominblegal landscape. Davin and co-panelists will evaluate the potential impacts of the Supreme Court’s 2024-2025 term cases on local government operations and liability, as well as how these cases could affect local government finances and obligations under federal statutes.

Davin will present an in-depth assesement of City and County of San Francisco v. EPA and this decisions likely impact on the EPA’s authority to impose generic prohibitions in NPDES permits, providing clarity on Clean Water Act requirements and reducing penalty risks for local governments.

‘Supreme Court’s 2024-2025 Term and Local Government: Key Cases, Anticipated Impacts’ is a 90-minute video webinar program taking place on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:30am PDT.  The presentation is accredited by the California State Bar for 1.5 hours of CLE general practice credit.
